Front End Re-Development
Adrian Thompson wanted to add a navigation item and make some design changes to the website. The site was developed using tables before and was built using sliced images, so these changes required an entire re-slicing of these images and a recode of the HTML. I recommended to simply move into a CSS based layout using image overlays, and techniques to speed up load times.
The front end development image size optimization technique involved layering the images on the page, exporting the larger background images at lower quality, and the foreground overlaid images at higher quality. I was able to reduce the overall file size of the website to under a megabyte.
This website features W3C compliant tableless HTML and CSS that is compatible with the majority of browsers.
