Aspects of Search Engine Optimization
There are three core aspects of search engine optimization
- Content: text, images, meta content, page title, keyword usage and density, anchor text
- Site Architecture: server environment, HTML coding techniques, HTML tag usage, content organization and distribution
- Back-linking: popular websites linking to yours, Google Page Rank
Many people believe content and back-linking are the most important aspects of SEO. I am here to educate you on why site architecture plays a significant role in how a website can perform on search engines.
Site Architecture
Site architecture helps determine the overall value of specific pieces of content, as well as the pages themselves. Having poor site architecture can hinder search engine performance. Without proper architecture sites can show up for irrelevant search phrases and as a result may be getting poor quality of traffic.
Back-linking and Google Page Rank
Google Page Rank is a calculation of how important a webpage is by assigning a numeric value between zero and ten, ten being the most important websites, like Google itself.
The higher a websites Page Rank is, the more likely it will get placed in higher rankings over competition on search engines
Content
Content determines what search phrases your website will pop up for. Title content, and the content within the important meta tags and heading tags is valued as very important by Google. This is where you want to integrate search phrases and potential keywords into existing content. It is important that the content linking to your website includes these keywords as well.
Without content a website is completely pointless, and it is very unlikely large amounts of traffic will go to a site with no content. Also Page Rank will not increase due to no one linking to the website because of the lack of content.
